The IFM-SEI is an international non-profit
organisation, struggling for children rights. It is functioning as an umbrella organisation for different national
organisation. Our members are children and youth selforganisation, family organisation and other organisation who are working for the benefit of children and
youngsters.
We are organising campaigns, for example against childlabour or childpornography, seminars, trainings, camps and other educational activities. All our activities are carried out by ourself or our member organisation.
IFM-SEI is an international educational and political movement which unites children and young people and all who are willing to work for its aims and principles. It seeks to direct the energy and enthusiasm of youth towards the transformation of our present troubled world. Through it's member organisations it strives to educate in the principles of universal tolerance, equality and friendship so essential for the creation of a world where all may live in peace and co-operation.
IFM-SEI seeks through its member organisations to develop children and young people with a critical awareness of the world and its present inequalities. The motto of IFM-SEI is "Span the world with friendship". During the year the IFM-SEI and its member organisations run different activities. On one side we have our seminars. On the other side we have long-term projects.
We organised a seminar is from the 27th October to the 3rd November 2002 in Strasbourg/France. The theme was"How to get an active democratic involvment of young people in South-East and East European countries?" For this we plan a follow-up seminar in October 2003 in Budapest/ Hungary.
In November we had an International Committe Meeting in Prague. The next IC will be in Helsinki in November 2003.
At the European Social Forum in Florence/ Italy a delegation took part. We will also participate in the next ESF in Paris in November 2003.
30th March to the 06th April 2003 we have a seminar to exchange and develope ideas how to prepare groupleaders for international
exchanges. We will have a conference on European Youth Policy in May 2003 in
Brussels. In October 2003 we organise a seminar about gender mainstreaming in Oer-Erkenschwick/ Germany. This will be for women
only.
We took part in the special session of the UN about children rights. Youngsters of our member organisations participated in the children's forum. We published a special bulletin about this.
For the third time "Queer easter" was organised this year. Until today homosexual, bisexual, transgender etc. youngsters are discriminated in nealry every country of the world. Queer Easter offers the possibility of exchange of experiences and perspectives. Queer Easter 2003 has "homosexuality between self and third party definition" as topic. It will be like always in Werftpfuhl/ Germany.
For this year we plan a lot activities against racism. There will be an african Camp in St. Luis, Senegal. And we will have an European Youth Conference in Döbriach, Austria. Both events will be connected via Internet. We are looking for new ways of prevention of any kind of discrimination and especially racism. New methods will be presented. Contacts and co-operations should be developed to be more efficient in our struggle against racism.
